Second place in the VDS article competition

Stefanie Sippel, a member of this editorial team, won second place in the “Grosser VDS Prize” article competition. With her contribution “How Makkabi Lives” she succeeded in creating a moving and oppressive text that draws its relevance from more than just its topicality, wrote the jury of the Association of German Sports Journalists.

“In this story about Jews playing football, the author describes very well the hostility, the feeling of constant threat, but also the desire for normality and does without pathos. The first prize went to Tim Jürgens from Berlin-Brandennburg for his piece “Insulaner unner sück”, published in the magazine 11Freunde.
