Sebastian Ofner Secures Opening Victory at ATP 500 Tournament in Barcelona Against Pavel Kotov

Sebastian Ofner has his opening game against Pavel Kotov won in three sets at the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona. In the second round, Austria’s number one will now face the Monte Carlo champion Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Successful start for Sebastian Ofner at the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona: The Austrian prevailed in the first round against the Russian Pavel Kotov in a hard-fought encounter with 5:7, 6:3 and 6:2. In the second round, the world number 43 challenges. the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.

After initial difficulties, Ofner was able to improve against Kotov and thus lived up to his role as favorite. In the duel with Tsitsipas, the Austrian number one will now be a clear outsider, as the 25-year-old triumphed on Sunday at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo.

Last year, Ofner clearly lost to the Greek in three rounds in the round of 16 of the French Open; in 2017, the Styrian was at least able to win a set in the second qualifying round in Antwerp.
