With the end of the regular season, journalists will soon be able to vote for individual trophies. Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama seem set to compete for the place for the DPOY.
In a few weeks, everything suggests that Victor Wembanyama will be crowned rookie of the year and with a long lead over the competition. Chet Holmgren may have had a crazy season, but he should not compete with the Frenchman among voters, just like Brandon Miller. But the Frenchman should also finish in a good position for the DPOY.
Let it be said, Rudy Gobert remains the big favorite to this day to win his fourth defender of the year title. He had a very good campaign in this sector, not to mention the fact that the Wolves finished in the first places in the West. With 41 points for Rudy against 16 for Victor, it is already clear that the two Frenchmen dominate this ranking. Everything can change with other journalists obviously, but this is a first trend. Everything therefore suggests that Gobert will be crowned again, while Wemby should find a place of choice on the podium.
Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama are well on their way to the top of the DPOY rankings. Deserved for both men, even if Wemby is determined to reverse the trend next year.
