Rising Phoenix Suns Threaten NBA Playoffs with Strong Defense and Winning Streak

The Western Conference standings (6th with 46 wins and 31 losses) almost says the opposite, but the threat in the part of the painting that will be most open of the NBA playoffs -according to what was seen in the East with the Boston Celtics- on the part of the Phoenix Suns is notable. They dried up the best defense in the league, that of the Minnesota Timberwolves (97-87) and they will land in the post-season on a great streak. Although their first task will be to close sixth place – or something more – to play directly in the Playoffs.

Alexander-Walker, surrounded by rivals.

Part(a lot) of the blame lies with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, the dynamic duo that has the reins of the attack along with another star, Bradley Beal. Durant hit the Wolves with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists, and Booker added 13 with 13 assists. They had come away with a combined 72 points and although their volume dropped, they are still in top shape.

“We are here for each other,” Durant said of his team. The schedule was fatal and he only has the stain on his record of losing by 25 to the Oklahoma City Thunder (128-103). On the other hand, they knocked down the Pelicans, Cleveland, Minnesota… and they have an end to the calendar with the Pelicans, the Clippers on two occasions, the Kings and the Timberwolves. Very hard, but the results come.

Booker lanza.

“We continue to improve. We don’t just want to be a good defense, we want to be a great defense. The boys respond. Nurkic has grown up protecting the rim, blocking what comes and trusting in the attack of his teammates,” said Frank Vogel, his coach. The streak lands at the right time.

First, ensure a good ending for ‘RS’. They are only one win away from Dallas (5th) and three from the Clippers. But the play-in is not far away, since the Pelicans are seventh with one loss. Kings and Lakers, two. If they finish sixth they will almost certainly be paired with Oklahoma.
