Ried remains second after victory against Bregenz

SV Ried also took advantage of GAK’s first defeat of the year and reduced the gap to the leaders of the Admiral 2nd League to eleven points. The Innviertel team defeated Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz at home on Saturday evening with a score of 5:0 (3:0) and are still level on points with DSV Leoben in second place. Leoben won 2-0 at FAC on Friday, GAK, who were about to return to the Bundesliga, lost 2-0 at FC Liefering.

Ried landed its third win in the last four games. The outstanding man was Ante Bajic with three goals. The ex-Rapidler scored from the box into the near corner in the second minute. He was also successful with a deflected shot (31st) and with a header (50th). The other goals came from Nikki Havenaar with a header after he had previously taken a throw-in (20th), and Mark Große from the penalty spot (54th). In the finish, Ried’s Lumor Agbenyenu nailed the ball to the crossbar (85th).

Bregenz has now gone five rounds without a win and has slipped to eleventh place in the table. The guest appearance in Ried was the second game under interim coach Martin Schneider after a 3-3 draw last week against latecomers Sturm Graz II. Former coach Markus Mader announced his resignation at the beginning of April.
