Recap of the German Judoka Championships for Over 30s at the Nürburgring

Last weekend the German Judoka Championships for over 30s took place in the Ring Arena at the Nürburgring.

The competitions started on Saturday with the individual competition. Meike Euler from 1st JJJC Lünen was at the start here. In her class F5/-63kg there was only one other fighter registered besides her, so the fight was in “best of three” mode. In the first comparison, both fighters dueled on equal terms, with Meike Euler making the stronger impression on the judges and was therefore awarded victory by judge’s decision. In the second comparison, her opponent gave up injured, so that the Lüner woman was already declared German champion after two of three possible fights.

On Sunday the championship of the mixed teams of the regional associations took place for the first time. Club mate Heike Tatsch joined them in the heavyweight division and the two women from Lüne fought together for the “Over 45” team of the North Rhine-Westphalia Judo Association. A total of five teams competed in this age group. A team fight consisted of five individual fights (three men and two women). While Meike Euler was alone in the NRW team in her weight class, Heike Tatsch was able to share the four fights with a fighter from Bocholt. Unfortunately, Meike Euler was only able to win one of her four fights in the team fights. Heike Tatsch was used twice and won both of her fights early. She was able to win the first fight by giving up her opponent; In the second fight, two Waza-Ari scores for throwing techniques led to an early victory.
In the final results, the two women from Lünen and Team NRW took third place.
