Rachel/Lanny completed Indonesia’s victory over Uganda to 5-0

Chengdu, China (ANTARA) – Women’s doubles Rachel Allessya Rose/Lanny Tria Mayasari completed Indonesia’s victory over Uganda to 5-0 in the 2024 Uber Cup group phase at the Chengdu Hi Tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium, Chengdu, China, Monday.

Rachel/Lanny beat young Ugandan pair Fadilah Shamika Mohamed Rafi/Tracy Naluwooza 21-6, 21-8 in 20 minutes.

Rachel/Lanny admitted that they both adapted well even in the new formation, because they often played and trained together.

“Thank God we were able to win today’s match. As for chemistry with Rachel, we often train together, we are also close off the field. So it wasn’t difficult to build chemistry on the field,” said Lanny after the match.

Regarding the reason they were paired, Lanny and Rachel revealed that this was because their colleagues, Meilysa Trias Puspitasari and Ribka Sugiarto, were recovering physically.

“Maybe because our partner is ‘repairing’, so we are there,” said Rachel.

Even though Indonesia has confirmed a place in the 2024 Uber Cup quarter-finals, neither Rachel nor Lanny want to lose focus and enthusiasm for competition ahead of the final match against Japan on Wednesday (1/5).

“We are ready, who will be deployed later. “It was (against) all seniors, they played really well, and we just wanted to play with nothing to lose,” said Rachel.

The Indonesian women’s and men’s teams are certain to advance to the last eight of the 2024 Uber and Thomas Cup. The final group phase match will determine the group winner and the quarter-final draw.

The Indonesian men’s team will compete against the 2022 Thomas Cup champions, India, in a match that is predicted to be exciting because the two countries last met in the final of the 2022 edition.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian heroines will meet Japan, which is one of the strongest women’s teams at the moment.
