What was joy turned into a scandal. And that event ejected the coach: that is the sequence that Juventus closed in the last hours. The club reported that it decided to fire coach Massimiliano Allegri hours after winning the Italian Cup against Atalanta. The reason? His controversial actions included a fierce argument with the judges during the match and then a threat to a journalist.

“Juventus announces that it has relieved Massimiliano Allegri of his position as coach of the men’s first team. The dismissal is due to certain behaviors during and after the Italian Cup final that the club considered incompatible with the values of Juventus and with the behavior that those who represent it should adopt. It ends a period of collaboration that began in 2014, resumed in 2021 and ended after the last 3 seasons together with the Italian Cup final. The company wishes Massimiliano Allegri good luck in his future projects,” the club reported in a statement.

The Italian newspaper Tuttosport, which regularly follows Juve’s campaign, was at the center of the scene since Allegri attacked Guido Vaciago, the media’s director. “Juventus, in fact, after apologizing to Lega Serie A and Aic for the unedifying spectacle offered by its coach after the match at the Olympic Stadium, opted for a forceful gesture: dismissal. After a long day in Continassa, with a visit to the Tuttosport headquarters to make peace with director Vaciago, Allegri received the communication of his dismissal,” this newspaper recently detailed.

Allegri, who had previously won five Serie A, four Italian Cups and two Italian Super Cups with the Vecchia Signora, also did not have a good relationship with the institution’s sports director, Cristiano Giuntoli, something that was evident at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. The coach made disapproving gestures and shouted at him: “Not you. Out, out!” It is worth noting that in recent weeks there were reports in Turin that Thiago Motta, who was very present in Bologna (it qualified him for the Champions League), could end up at Juve.

Allegri’s dismissal occurred with two games remaining before the close of the local tournament. Those from Turin will visit Bologna on Monday, in a key duel for third place (both have 67 points, but those from Emilia-Romagna have a better goal difference) and on Saturday, May 25, they will host Monza.

Juve is currently 25 points behind champions Inter, although it should be noted that the Bianconeri did not compete in a triple competition this season as they did not qualify for any international tournament.

“Allegri, obviously upset, was undergoing the last media task of his triumphant (but evidently not too serene) night, the press conference, but he found a few minutes for me. ‘Damn director! Yes, you shitty director. Write the truth in your newspaper, not what society tells you! Stop playing the company’s favorites,’” Vaciago said in a column in the aforementioned Turin newspaper. And then he added: “To a first invitation to remain calm and explain to me what the truth was that he was hiding according to his bosses, Allegri responded by pulling me, pushing me and shouting at me with his finger under my nose: ‘Look, I know where come look for you I know where to wait for you. I come and rip off both your ears. I come and hit you in the face. Write the truth in the newspaper’ and other amenities from the bar brawl repertoire. Meanwhile, Gabriella Ravizzotti from the Juventus press office and a Lega Serie A official held him back and then managed to drag him to the press room. “That’s all: I’m sorry for those who expected something bloodier and I’m sorry for the rudeness of those who, especially in public, should behave differently,”

Now all guns lead to Thiago Motta, who would be Juventus’ first option to replace Massimiliano Allegri. Meanwhile, the two remaining Serie A matches would be led by Uruguayan Paolo Montero, currently the club’s Under 19 coach.
