PSG-Barcelona: after monkey cries and Nazi salutes at the Park, two Barça supporters arrested

The day after PSG’s 2-3 defeat in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League against Barça, two Barcelona “supporters” were arrested by the police. During the encounter, they were seen making monkey cries and Nazi salutes. The police headquarters specifies that they are indicted for “apology of war crimes and public insult of a racist nature”.

Last night, several videos circulated on X (formerly Twitter) in which we could see Catalan supporters insulting Parisian supporters with monkeys. On some, Nazi salutes could clearly be seen. As a reminder, the match took place in a tense security context with a special system put in place in response to threats from the Islamic State against the stadiums which hosted the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to a police source, a total of 11 people were arrested and taken into custody as part of the meeting, including one for trespassing in a sports venue, another for possession of narcotics and five for possession of a prohibited category D weapon. Despite the terrorist threat, no incidents have been reported.

On the night before the match, several people had already been arrested for sticking racist stickers around the Parc des Princes.
