PSG: 6 out of 10 French football fans think Paris can win the Champions League

What if this time it was the right one? After PSG’s comeback against Barça (1-4) and its qualification for the semi-final of the Champions League, French football fans are starting to believe that PSG could be crowned in the European Cup this season. In any case, this is the result of a survey carried out by Odoxa for Winamax and RTL.

According to this survey, 6 out of 10 football fans think that PSG can lift the big-eared cup this season. When we ask the club’s supporters, more than 8 out of 10 say they believe in a PSG title. But more than a simple qualification, this Parisian success against FC Barcelona heals, for many, the wound of the 2017 Remontada. For 73% of PSG supporters, it is a revenge which erases the trauma.

Luis Enrique, more convincing than in the first leg

After a disappointing performance by his team, a criticized lineup and a defeat in the first leg (2-3), Luis Enrique was particularly questioned by many football fans after the match at the Parc des Princes. But while almost 50% of them criticized Luis Enrique’s choices after this first meeting, 79% of football fans say they are satisfied with the tactics and team composition of the Spanish coach in the return match.

A revenge in Barcelona which changes everything, therefore, both for the end of the club’s season – still in contention in three competitions – and for public opinion towards PSG. Thanks to this qualification, the capital club is increasing in popularity, since 59% of French football fans now have a good opinion of the club, compared to 52% a year ago.

Supporters confident against Dortmund

A popularity which could continue to skyrocket in the event of qualification for the final. To get there, it will be necessary to dismiss Borussia Dortmund, winner of the “group of death” at the start of the season, ahead of PSG. “Dortmund will be extremely difficult to beat. We really shouldn’t believe that we’re already in the final. We are still a long way from that,” warned former PSG goalkeeper Bernard Lama this week, in the columns of Le Parisien. A distrust which does not prevent 84% of the club’s supporters from thinking that Paris will go to the final…
