Marlene Pribitzer qualified for the final with sixth place at the Olympic air rifle qualification tournament in Rio de Janeiro, but in this she missed the hoped-for quota place in eighth place on Tuesday. The Lower Austrian had even been in the lead at times in the qualification the day before, but things didn’t go as planned in the final.
Four of eight shooters in the fight for victory had a chance of one of the two quota places, including Pribitzer. After the first elimination series, her eighth place was already determined. The Paris tickets went to the 17-year-old Frenchwoman Manon Herbulot and the Norwegian Synnoeve Berg. Sheileen Weibel was the second best Austrian in 21st place.
