Preparations Underway for the Olympic Flame Passage in Valençay: Safety Instructions and Route Details Announced

Thursday April 18, 2024, members of the flaggers association and volunteers were invited for one of the last updates of the day of May 27, the day of the passage of the Olympic flame in Valençay. Dominique Gabillon, referent of the organization, recalled the safety instructions for this day during which the 70 volunteers will have to comply.

The allocation of each position has been precisely defined on the route from the main courtyard of the castle to the Place de la Halle, i.e. 700 meters, departure at 4:43 p.m. and arrival at 5:03 p.m. All these volunteers will be on duty from 8:30 a.m. at the castle where numerous sporting activities are planned (handball, football, badminton, archery, rugby, judo etc.) with around 1,100 students, plus supervisors (i.e. 1,400 people present in the castle park).

The town center of Valençay will be closed to traffic this day: no parking on the flame route will be possible from Sunday evening, the instructions imposed by the Cojo being very strict. The final program for this day will be given soon.
