Pellicer seeks replacement for Einar Galilea

Sergio Pellicer will have to change the eleven again, out of obligation, for the visit of this Sunday from AD Ceuta to La Rosaleda (12:00 p.m./FEF TV). Einar Galilea, a fixture in the lineups in recent weeks and for a good part of the season, has been injured and now it will be the coach’s job to find a reliable substitute for him to play alongside Nelson Monte in the center of the blue and white defense.

Einar Galilea was playing at a remarkable level in recent days, but an injury has slowed him down and now he will have to work to recover and be in the best possible shape in the last games of the regular phase and in a hypothetical play off. The Basque center back suffers a muscle injury to the femoral biceps of his left leg, meaning he will miss several games. The club has not given recovery periods, as is usual, but in this type of setbacks the logical thing is to be, at least, two or three weeks without being able to compete.

The Basque defender had been a fixture for Pellicer in recent weeks. He accumulated seven consecutive starts, just the amount of time the blue and white team has gone without losing. (Recreativo de Huelva, Alcoyano, Ibiza, Atlético Sanluqueño, Intercity, Algeciras and Linares). He had not stayed on the bench since the defeat in Melilla. Totalhas been a starter 22 times this season in the League and has had minutes in 24 of the 30 games that the Martiricos team has played.

Possible substitutes

In these last seven games Nelson Monte and Einar Galilea had always played as a center back pair, except in Alcoy, where they were also accompanied by Moussa in a system with three centers. Now, Pellicer will have to dig deep into his closet to find a replacement. The most logical option, by stripes and hierarchy, would be Juande Rivas. The good role of the starting centre-backs was leaving him without a place, but now he could have the opportunity to earn his place again, at least until Galilea returns. The other options are Moussa himself and Murillowhich has also disappeared from the green after a first round in which it had more prominence due to the casualties.

Málaga CF has managed to be a solid team at the back with the Monte-Galilea couple as centre-backs. Until Linares managed to pierce Alfonso Herrero’s door last Sundaythe blue and whites had gone six consecutive games without conceding. In fact, Málaga is the team with the least goals scored in Group II of Primera RFEF.

Now, Sergio Pellicer is in charge of finding the key so that the team continues to maintain that defensive firmness shown in the last months of competition, whether looking for a man-for-man replacement for Galilea or changing the system again to play with three center backs.
