Paulo Henrique decided Persebaya’s victory over Persik

Surabaya (ANTARA) – Paulo Henrique became the hero of Persebaya Surabaya’s victory over opponents Persik Kediri after his one goal made the score 2-1 in week 34 or the final match of the Indonesian League 1 season 2023/2024.

Persebaya’s goals were scored by Wildan Ramdhani in the 53rd minute and Paulo Henrique in the 90+2 minute. Meanwhile Persik’s goal was scored by Fitra Ridwan in the 57th minute.

From the results of this match, Persebaya rose to 11th place with a total final point of 42. Meanwhile, its opponent Persik remained in 7th place with a final point of 48.

In the match played at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) Surabaya, Persebaya took the initiative to attack Persik’s defense first, but it could not be penetrated.

In fact, Persebaya players Wildan Ramdhani and Kasim Botan, who had penetrated through the right and left of the opponent’s defense, were unable to produce a threat to the Persik goalkeeper.

Bruno Moreira got a chance with his right foot and immediately kicked the ball towards Persik’s goal in the 11th minute, but it was easily caught by Eko Saputro.

Even though they came as a visiting team, Persik didn’t want to just be attacked continuously, occasionally Arthur Irawan et al tried to spread threats to Bajol Ijo’s defense.

In fact, twice Ze Valente’s through passes which were well received by Flavio and Faris Aditama threatened the Persebaya goal guarded by Andhika Ramadhani, in the 18th and 22nd minutes.

Apart from these two players, Santos Lyngbo didn’t want to miss out on creating opportunities for Persik, but with Andhika Ramadhani’s alertness the ball could still be secured.

Persebaya was only able to create a golden opportunity through a neat combination from Bruno and Robson in the 44th minute, but Wildan’s final finish in front of the goal didn’t result in a goal, instead it soared high.

The foot to foot combination of Persebaya players in the final third of the field, towards the end of the first half, looked effective in confusing the Persik players, but there was still no good final solution.

The players keep coming Green Force attacked the defense of the club which has another nickname Laskar Jayabaya, but until the referee blew the whistle for halftime the score was still 0-0.

Armed with wanting to win at the end of the season, in the early minutes of the second half Persebaya immediately attacked Persik’s defense.

There was even time for Andre Oktaviansyah to spread a threat with his shot from outside the penalty box, but it still bounced slightly over the Persik crossbar which was guarded by Eko Saputro.

Persebaya finally broke the deadlock through Wildan’s kick in the 53rd minute. It started with Robson Duarte’s kick hitting the Persik crossbar and bouncing towards Wildan Ramdhani who successfully kicked the ball even though there were three opposing defenders blocking it.

The temporary score changed to 1-0, a victory for Bajol Ijo.

After winning by one point, the Green Force squad did not relax their attacks. However, Persik’s counterattack resulted in disaster for Persebaya.

Both teams immediately increased the intensity of the match. Buying and selling attacks occurred between the two clubs from East Java.

Even though they were playing at Persebaya’s home ground, the White Tiger players did not look afraid, in fact their attacks threatened the hosts’ defense several times.

However, Paul Munster’s team also continued to try to attack Persik’s defense which was guarded by Hehanusa. Andre Oktaviansyah even gave a breakthrough pass to Persebaya striker Paulo Henrique, who replaced Wildan Ramdhani, but he was caught offside.

Marcelo’s men attacked Persebaya’s defense again, but still had no results. Until Ze Valente tried a kick from outside the penalty box, but it still bounced slightly over Andhika Ramadhani’s crossbar.

Persebaya was finally able to increase the score through Paulo Henrique’s individual action after receiving a pass from Kasim Botan, and even managed to outwit Persik Kediri’s defender and goalkeeper in the 90+2 minute. The score is 2-1.
