Pallacanestro Trieste and Partners Unveil Renovated Valmaura Basketball Court with ‘The Heart on the Pitch’ Project

Trieste, 19 April 2024 – This is the completion of a long journey, of strong commitment towards the local community, which has seen the company engaged today Pallacanestro Trieste with all its partners in the ribbon cutting of the renovated Valmaura basketball court.

In fact, this afternoon, the playground of the ATER residential complex in Via Valmaura was returned to the citizens of Trieste, which with the project “The heart on the pitch” of the red and white society, lives today with new life. It was a redevelopment intervention which affected all the common areas of the buildings and which involved intense cleaning, maintenance and renovation work on the pre-existing situation.

The process began in February this year with the formation of a working group composed not only of Pallacanestro Trieste but also of Pietro Pittini Foundation, from the Beata Vergine Addolorata parish of Valmaura, from Edilmaster building school of Trieste, from the “Oltre quell Sedia” Association and from the ATER of Trieste.

The Valmaura pitch project was born as a natural development of Pallacanestro Trieste’s work and commitment to social issues throughout the year. A commitment that involved, together with the company, two other entities, which have always been on the front line for children and the community. On the one hand the Pietro Pittini Foundation and on the other the Parish of Valmaurawith which Pallacanestro Trieste collaborated on a daily basis, thanks also to the great availability and empathy of its players, who were the first to want to be ambassadors of these values.

The works, which officially began last March 19th and concluded today morning with the assembly of the scoreboards of the two baskets, are aimed at leaving a tangible sign of the presence of Pallacanestro Trieste in the area and of its commitment to the community. The guys from took care of the restyling of the playground Edilmaster building school of Triestewhile the protagonists of took care of cleaning the walls, common areas and children’s area “Beyond that Chair”, association that offers young people with disabilities a real opportunity for growth through commitment and constant actions that must act as a stimulus to cultural change in society by proposing alternative and innovative paths.

The residents of the neighborhood also played a fundamental role in the success of the project. They enthusiastically welcomed this vision and with great generosity welcomed all the people involved in the work into their homes, allowing them to make this experience even more special.

An integrated basketball match inaugurated the pitch, offering a unique opportunity to encourage the team ahead of the start of the A2 series championship playoffs on May 5th. The event saw the participation of the first team of Pallacanestro Trieste, of the red and white youth sectors with BaskeTrieste and of the ASD Servolana Basket, of the women’s teams of Futurosa and of the boys of Calicanto Onlus.

The red and white head coach Jamion Christian added: “For Pallacanestro Trieste it is very important to be part of this project because we care about our community. One of the things that the ownership, our GM Arcieri, the team and all the staff have in common is the love for this community, of which we want to be an active part, we want to leave a mark.”

The contribution of Canton Colori of Triestewhich supplied the paints for the redevelopment of the pitch, the Pasticceria Bom Bom, by Despar – Aspiag Service and by Gelato Marco who gave the opportunity to organize the final refreshments, were fundamental to the success of the event.
