Oberpfalz Marketing Continues to Shine: Re-elected Board Focused on Economy, Innovation, and Quality of Life

Regensburg. The Upper Palatinate is top in terms of economy, innovation and quality of life. These have been the most important messages of the marketing association based in Regensburg for more than 20 years. The first chairman, District Council President Franz Löffler, will be at the head of the association for another two years to ensure that these messages are heard within and outside the region.

At the general meeting in the Armin Wolf Baseball Arena in Regensburg, the entire board stood for re-election – and was unanimously confirmed in office by the members. Under proven leadership, but with lots of ideas, Oberpfalz Marketing is ideally equipped for the challenges of the future.

“In the Upper Palatinate, people don’t just talk. Things are happening in the Upper Palatinate,” said the first chairman and district council president Franz Löffler during his re-election on Wednesday evening in the Armin Wolf Baseball Arena. “We have worked hard to ensure that we can now offer quality of life at the highest level in all regions. Often, even the residents of Upper Palatinate are not aware of this – and this is exactly where the important work of Upper Palatinate marketing begins,” Löffler continued. For the 2024 general meeting with new elections of the board and auditors, the association has chosen a symbolic location with the state performance center of the Guggenberg Legionnaires, explained district president and 3rd chairman of Oberpfalz Marketing, Walter Jonas: “Probably the most beautiful ballpark in Europe represents the region: international, successful and innovative. In the region’s competition, Upper Palatinate also plays in the first league in Bavaria, if not in the whole of Germany.”

The right messages in difficult times

Had a lot of good news too Thomas Harmsen, Managing Director of Oberpfalz Marketing, for the members. The association’s current project, funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, is nearing completion: Over the past three years, the “Upper Palatinate brand” has been put to the test and strategically developed further. Harmsen was able to present a whole range of projects that were implemented together with the districts and independent cities. For example, a video portrait series about returnees was produced with the Tirschenreuth district. A trainee campaign was implemented with the district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab to inspire young people to train in the trades using unusual video formats. The club has developed the concept for its own skate contest for the Amberg-Sulzbach district, which will be relaunched next May as BikeOFF in the Neumarkt district in the Upper Palatinate.

Strong media partners from the region

The marketing association was also looking for strong brand partners in the region – and quickly found them: PuzzleYou from the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district has brought an exclusive Upper Palatinate puzzle onto the market. The organic brewery Molter has recently been brewing the “Oberpfalz Sud” and the Underdog, the new mascot for the young target group of Oberpfalz Marketing, has received its own cup from the Weiden porcelain manufacturer Seltmann. The appointment of another four ambassadors from Upper Palatinate was also a complete success. “With this project, we have focused our work a little more on the region and implemented content production in close cooperation with the ten districts and independent cities,” says Harmsen.

What is also new is the orientation of communication towards a significantly younger target group, i.e. children and young people. In the future, he and his team want to work harder to make the people of Upper Palatinate more aware of the advantages of their homeland – and thus ensure more self-confidence and pride in their homeland. Because: “Only those who allow themselves to be inspired are prepared to achieve top performance,” says first chairman Franz Löffler. That’s why, in his eyes, the most important task of Upper Palatinate marketing is still to find the right messages and to communicate successfully both internally and externally, even in challenging times.
