Novak Djokovic Qualifies for TMS Monte Carlo Semi-Finals Nine Years Later

The youngest fans could not remember the last time Novak Dokovic (36 years old) had qualified for the TMS Monte Carlo semi-finals. We had to go back to the 2015 edition, when he beat Rafael Nadal in the penultimate round and subsequently won his second title in the Monegasque principality after beating Tomas Berdych.

This Friday he was among the four best nine years laterby finishing off Alex de Minaur, 7-5 and 6-4.

The victory allows Dokovic to steal another record from Rafael Nadalwith whom he tied in the semifinals in the Masters 1000 category tournaments. There are now 77 times that the Balkan has stood at the gates of the final compared to 76 for the Balearic Islands, who have not played a TMS since Paris-Bercy, in 2022.

The champion of 24 majors now awaits the winner of the match between Casper Ruud and the Frenchman Ugo Humbert.
