Historic season for the New York Knicks who, after achieving an agonizing victory in overtime against the Bulls (120-119), have reached 50 wins in the regular season for the first time since 2013.
Likewise, taking advantage of Milwaukee’s defeat against Orlando, they have obtained second position in the East (50-23), and in the first round of the playoffs they will face the winner between Philadelphia and Miami.
The time to beat Embiid or his bogeyman from last year Jimmy Butler will come later. It’s time to enjoy because today the Garden has been a real hive and has risen to the occasion when the moment screamed for it.
And we say that he was crying out for it because the Bulls were not exactly coming to New York for tourism, and they have fought it to the end guided by DeRozan’s experience and Caruso’s defense.
But once again it has been Jalen Brunson who, putting his team on his back, has guided the Knickerbockers with 40 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists with 14/30 field goals.
This was his third game in the last five with at least 40 points scored, and the eleventh of the regular season (only Doncic has more than him with 13).

In addition, he is among the Knicks’ all-timers with 15 games with at least 40 points scored. Carmelo is very close with 17; Bernard King (23) and Patrick Ewing (30).
Other highlights have been Donte DiVincenzo with 25 points and 7 rebounds with 5/14 in triples; Josh Hart had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and from the bench Bogdanovic had 13 points in just 17 minutes of play.
In the Bulls, up to three players have scored at least twenty points: DeRozan (30); Vucevic (29 and 11 rebounds) and Coby White (26).
Billy Donovan’s men had nothing at stake (39-43) and in the first round of the Play-in they will receive Quinn Snyder’s Hawks, who were tenth with a 36-46. This meeting will be on April 17, and the winner of the two will face the loser of the series between Miami and Philadelphia two days later.
