“The error was not noticed in real time by the teams, the referees, the timekeeper and the statistics team,” said NBA spokesman Tim Frank on Saturday (local time) in response to an ESPN query.
It was not possible to resolve the situation during the game and adjust the time again. In the additional 66 seconds, the Grizzlies and Lakers each scored two points, LA won 123-120.
