Nathan Hemelot Triumphs in Marathon Match at Theix-Noyalo Tournament

For an hour, the two men delivered a marathon match in the final of the Theix-Noyalo Tournament (56). It started well for the Saint-Nolff player, who won a first set like the match: very close (21-23).

Hemelot rebelled in the second (21-18) before seeing the Breton take off in the decisive round (8-3, 12-5). But Goubin broke down physically while leading 15-9. “At the end, it was very complicated. From the end of the second, I felt that my legs were getting tired. It went bad in the third,” said Goubin.

Goubin: “Good feelings”

Helpless, he saw his opponent come back together (16-16) then fly to victory (21-17). “He was more tired than me. I changed my style of play a little to be more patient,” explains the player, supported by around fifteen supporters of his former club (Le Mesnil-le-Roi in Yvelines).

“We’re going out this weekend. This is our first time in Brittany. So it’s nice to win here. We’ll do it again tomorrow in duplicate,” he said. Goubin also meets with his club partner Emilien Bertin. “I lost but I’m happy with my tournament. I had good feelings. We will try to do better tomorrow (Sunday) but it will be difficult”
