Naples falls back into its failings at home against Frosinone

Napoli was hung on its lawn by Frosinone (2-2) this Sunday.

Naples still cannot manage to string together victories in front of its home crowd: the reigning champion was held in check (2-2) by Frosinone on Sunday during the 32nd day of the Italian Championship. Napoli led twice thanks to Matteo Politano (16th) and Victor Osimhen (63rd), but Walid Cheddira twice brought the two teams back to back (50th and 73rd).

The Italian-Moroccan striker, loaned to Frosinone by Naples, took advantage for his first goal of a huge blunder by Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret who, in the first period (30th), had diverted a penalty from Matias Soulé.

Naples, whistled by its fans at the final whistle, is now 8th, six points from 5th place which could become a qualifier for the Champions League, occupied by AS Roma who played one match less.

Frosinone, who eliminated Naples from the Italian Cup by winning 4-0 at the Diego-Armando-Maradona Stadium in December, remains stuck in the dangerous zone (18th), tied with the first non-relegation place, Verona, who played one less match.
