Municipal Council Approves Judo Federation Agreement for Dojo Development in Saint-Jean

The municipal council held a public session to deliberate on the modified agreement that the municipality will sign with the Judo Federation. To take advantage of the interest in the Olympic Games, the French Judo Federation mobilized a large budget to develop judo, thanks to the creation, throughout the territory, of 1,000 dojos. After two visits to the premises of the old town hall, the representatives of the federation appreciated this reception structure and decided to set up a dojo in Saint-Jean with the agreement of the Céret judo association to which it will be attached. As the premises require major work to comply with its sporting use, the council’s acceptance of this modified agreement will allow companies to begin renovating the building. The federation is responsible for all interior improvements and the town hall will provide access for disabled people and repair the exterior walls. The place, made available to the federation, remains the property of the municipality which can use it for other activities while respecting both the judo slots and the arrangement of the equipment. Thus, schools and sports associations will be able to benefit from a room that is finally heated and rehabilitated.

The project will cost €100,000.
