Mets Wash Out Braves in 16-4 Victory: Recap of Thursday’s MLB Action

The Atlanta Braves had a tough day at work Thursday afternoon, as they were washed out by the New York Mets.

The New York team won by a score of 16 to 4. To add insult to injury, Tyrone Taylor hit a grand slam during the ninth and final inning of play. Earlier in the match, Jeff McNeil had hit a double in the third inning, allowing Francisco Alvarez to cross home plate. He then did it again with a two-run single in the seventh inning.

After a more than complicated start to the season, the Mets have a 5-7 record. They have won five of their last seven outings.

As for the Braves (7-4), they are still first in the Eastern section of the National League.

Atrocious first inning for the Astros

Like the Braves, the Houston Astros (4-10) were totally dominated by the Kansas City Royals (9-4), the latter having had the upper hand by a score of 13 to 3.

The first inning was particularly chaotic for the Houston team, which allowed nine points. Vinnie Pasquantino led off with a single, while Nelson Velazquez, Nick Loftin and Maikel Garcia followed suit shortly after.

Bobby Witt Jr. also had a productive afternoon, signing two home runs and five RBIs.

At Globe Life Field, Quebecer Abraham Toro hit his seventh hit in his last five games in a 1-0 victory for the Oakland Athletics over the Texas Rangers. Pitcher JP Sears (1-1) took a scoreless game into the seventh inning before giving up.
