The winner of Badminton Denmark’s Talent Award 2024 has been found, and this year Martin Røjkjær Købsted won the award. He was presented with the prize on the final day at VICTOR UDM in Brøndby Hallen.

This is what Badminton Denmark writes in a press release.

On a daily basis, he is head coach for the senior squad Aalborg Triton and youth coach at Brønderslev Badminton Club.

– I am incredibly happy and proud. I am also surprised, because when I saw the field of nominees, I was happy just to be one of them, says Martin Røjkjær Købsted.

He continues:

– I have huge respect for the other nominees, who are super talented coaches, so that colleagues, coaches and managers have voted for me, I am very proud of.

More about Badminton Denmark’s Talent Award

Martin Røjkjær Købsted was nominated together with Sune Gavnholt, Peter Gade and Kasper Dinesen.

The purpose of the Badminton Denmark Talent Award is to focus on and recognize the great talent work that is done in Danish badminton.

It is the ninth time that Badminton Denmark’s Talent Award has been awarded.

The award is given to a talent coach, a head coach, a sports manager, a manager, a zealot in a club or someone else who, during the past year(s), has made an extraordinary effort for the development of talent in Danish badminton.

Martin Røjkjær Købsted has worked with the development of badminton players for more than 30 years, and throughout all these years the common thread for Martin has been the joy of playing badminton.

He has been a big part of the talent development of Magnus Johannesen, Jeppe Bruun, Kajsa Van Dalm and his daughter Sofie Røjkjær.

– It is a very cool move that I am standing here today. I have been in the game for many years, been in small clubs, built something up and brought in some really good players, says Martin Røjkjær Købsted and summarizes:

– I wear two caps, where I am both in the big and small club, so I try to navigate as well as possible and do the right thing for the clubs, so that the players and the clubs get out of what they put into it.
