The national team María Isabel Huitrón Ángeles won the gold medal in the -48 kilogram category of the Turkestan 2024 World Judo Championship for the Deaf, which took place from April 10 to 12, in Kazakhstan. With this triumph, the judoka became a two-time champion, after endorsing the scepter that she won at the 2021 Versailles World Cup that took place in France.

“There are already two gold medals in the World Cup, it’s something I can’t believe and I’m excited to know that nothing is impossible; “I feel very happy for this great result, it is all thanks to my family who inspires me to keep going and to prepare myself very much to obtain this gold medal,” shared the judoka.

The gold medalist at the Samsun Deaflympic Games, Turkey 2017 and at Caxias do Sul 2021, which took place in 2022 in Brazil, trains regularly with the national conventional judo team.

Regarding his next sporting goals and objectives, he noted that he has another international competition scheduled for this year, the Pan American Deaf Games that will take place in Brazil (from November 10 to 17) and the 2025 Deaflympic Games, in Tokyo, Japan.

“I would only like to share with the deaf community that I am showing them that, yes we can, let no one tell them ‘you can’t’, of course we can, Mexico is great,” he concluded.
