Marco van Basten is not happy with Clarence Seedorf’s working method, as became apparent on Monday evening during the Rondo program. According to Ruud Gullit, the former midfielder should be eligible for a position at Ajax, but Van Basten does not agree with this.

In the broadcast, Patrick Kluivert, also a guest on the talk show, indicates when asked that he is open to a position at Ajax. Gullit wouldn’t think that was a bad idea and also suggested a name for the Amsterdam club: Seedorf.

Gullit is surprised at the way we in the Netherlands view people like Kluivert and Seedorf. “What I find annoying… When they come abroad, doors open for them. Wherever they go. But in the Netherlands…”

The former midfielder of AC Milan and Chelsea, among others, knows that Seedorf applied for a job at Ajax, but never received a response. “All doors should be opened for this man, right? I don’t understand it at all.”

However, Van Basten thinks he knows why Seedorf is apparently not eligible for a position in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. “We have seen him on Dutch television in many ways. I just think he is a very stubborn guy,” the former top striker responds.

“That is something where you have to make a choice,” Van Basten continues. “As an employer, I wouldn’t deal with such a stubborn guy… He’s not stubborn in a nice way, I’ve experienced him.”

Gullit does not agree with Van Basten’s lecture. “I think he’s very stubborn,” he says. “I experienced him at the Mijnals Committee. The KNVB itself indicated that they wanted more diversity and they succeeded. We now have a woman (Marianne van Leeuwen, director of professional football, ed.), we have Nigel de Jong and we Michael Reiziger,” Gullit is satisfied with the work of the committee.
