Mainz 05 Dominates Hoffenheim in Crucial Bundesliga Victory

Important and impressive victory for 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the relegation battle of the German Bundesliga: On matchday 29 there is a 4-1 win over TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Two Austrians in the middle: After Kaderabek made it 0-1 (19th), Mainz turned the game around quickly after the restart, Burkardt equalized (47th) and Mwene took the lead with a deflected shot – his first goal of the season (51st).

The defender is also partly responsible for the third goal; his cross is only deflected by goalkeeper Baumann and Gruda heads it in (63′).

In the 77th minute, Onisiwo came on as a substitute and ensured the final point: he also converted a serious loss of the ball by the guests to score his first goal of the season (88th).

Grillitsch plays just as well for Hoffenheim as Mwene does for the hosts.

Stöger assist for a draw

With the victory, Mainz, currently in 16th place, is now only one point behind VfL Bochum (15th) and the saving bank. The Bochum team drew 1-1 against 1. FC Heidenheim in their first game under new coach Heiko Butscher.

Keven Schlotterbeck first scored an own goal (81′), but made up for his mistake himself and was also responsible for the equalizer (90′). Kevin Stöger provides the assist and plays through.

Hoffenheim is in eighth place, Heidenheim is tenth.
