More and more in the history of the rally the Sienese navigator Lorenzo Granai, with the driver Giandomenico Basso, won the Piedmont Region Rally. This is the second stage of the Italian championship and the success is enhanced by the fact that the Toyota Gr Yaris Rally 2, Basso and Granai’s car, had never won on asphalt before.
“The official Toyota team signed us up with Basso this year, with their new car that has just been developed. – said Granai -. It was an important success for us and for Toyota, because it is the first victory on asphalt.”
Thanks to this victory Basso and Granai took the lead in the overall classification: “We are at the top because in the first race, the Ciocco rally in Tuscany, we came second. Nobody expected such a positive start to the season.”
