The Dogues won against the Marseillais this Friday, at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium, at the opening of the 28th day of Ligue 1. They climbed to third place. OM is seventh.

Very bad operation for OM! At the opening of the 28th day of Ligue 1, the Marseille club lost big by losing on the Lille pitch (2-0). The Marseillais, relegated ten lengths from fourth place, can say goodbye to qualification for the Champions League, through the championship.

OM resists…

With their backs to the wall this Friday evening, five days after the defeat conceded against PSG (0-2), OM quickly suffered the assaults of a Losc as comfortable in placed attacks as in counterattacks. Zhegrova could have quickly broken the deadlock in the match, but the Lille winger lost his duel against Lopez (12th). The best opportunity for a first act which gradually lost intensity. If Alexsandro (25th) and Tiago Santos (28th) were dangerous in turn, the Phocaeans showed more control as the break approached. Without, however, obtaining real opportunities.

…then collapses

OM’s promising start to the second half was nothing more than a sham. Because the penalty obtained and transformed by David (1-0, 54th) immediately tilted the match in favor of an unleashed Losc after this opening score. Cabella, often a substitute this season but starting in this clash, was responsible for doubling the lead with a beautiful curling shot (71st). Superior in all respects, these Mastiffs were also resourceful. The third goal signed by Gudmundsson (3-1, 84th) finally finished off OM, who had just revived thanks to a gag goal scored by a very clumsy Aubameyang until then (2-1, 81st).

The C3 to believe in the C1

Logical winner, Lille took advantage of this convincing success to temporarily climb onto the podium. The northern club, currently enjoying great momentum, has struck a major blow in the race for the Champions League. Quite the opposite of an OM overwhelmed, and beaten for the third consecutive time in the championship. The Gasset effect has clearly dissipated among the Phocaeans, who are preparing to challenge Benfica in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. To hope to play the C1 next season, the Marseillais will have to win this C3. It’s hard to believe it given their latest releases.
