The Sang et Or conceded a draw against Le Havre (1-0) this Saturday afternoon for the 28th day of the championship.
After two consecutive defeats in Ligue 1, Lens confirmed its current difficulties by conceding a draw (1-1) against Le Havre, Saturday evening at Bollaert-Delelis, as part of the 28th day of Ligue 1.
Unable to overcome Le Havre – while the RCL was leading the score – in a packed stadium for the 45th time in a row, Lens (5th, 43 points) therefore did not manage to distance itself from its pursuers even if he temporarily overtakes Nice (6th) which plays Sunday in Reims. Opposite, the Normans (14th, 28 points) took a point which could count in terms of maintaining.
If the Sang et Or do not succeed this season against the top 5 teams (4 points out of 30), they were counting on their ability to beat their pursuers to get back on track. But on Saturday, they were handicapped by a low technical level mixed with too much collective inaccuracy.
However, Lens had to win to start the final sprint of the championship with a bang, with qualification for the European Cup in their sights. From the outset, the Artesians showed their ambitions, responding to Franck Haise’s wish for proactivity. Time to create three clear chances, all harvested by Elye Wahi (7th, 8th, 11th), and to fall back into a worrying approximation for a contender for the top 6. The excitement resurfaced, and allowed the Normans to shake their hosts (13th, 31st) and shiver the Lensoise enclosure.
The latter nevertheless warmed up after rest. First during a goal from Florian Sotoca, refused for slight offside by Wahi (53rd). Then and especially for Frankowski’s missed cross which lobbed Desmas and ended up in the back of the net (1-0, 58th). The Pole had not scored since the reception of Lyon on December 2 (3-2). This thorn in the side was, however, only removed for a moment, before a penalty obtained and transformed by Emmanuel Sabbi (1-1, 78th) for a foul by Aguilar. A draw that is ultimately logical given the too many shortcomings displayed by the Sang et Or and the consistency of the Le Havre game.
