Leicester City Secures Promotion Back to Premier League with Thumping Victory

Leicester City was promoted to the Premier League, a year after leaving it, on Friday after the defeat of its competitor Leeds United, severely beaten 4-0 in London on the ground of Queens Park Rangers (16th) during the 45th and before -last day of Championship.

With 94 points and still two matches to go, the Foxes will not be able to be caught up by Leeds (90 pts, 1 match to play) whose second place, also synonymous with direct accession to the Premier League, is threatened by Ipswich, third in a point from Leeds with three matches remaining.

On the other side of the rankings, the identities of the four teams relegated to League One (English Third Division) are not yet known. With only 24 points, only the red lantern Rotherham is already condemned to go down to the lower level. The Yorkshire club could well be accompanied by Huddersflied. The Terries, who played in the Premier League between 2017 and 2019, occupy 23rd place and are four points behind Plymouth Argyle, 20th and first non-relegation.
