Athlete Jan Železný is a Czech javelin legend. Although he has not competed for a long time now, he continues to devote himself to his beloved sport, namely at the coaching level. And as happens more and more often in the Czech pond, he too found love among his female students. How is the world record holder doing today?
Jan Zelezny he is a three-time world champion and at the same time a three-time Olympic champion in the javelin throw. The athletic star shone already in 1988 in Seoul, Korea, when Železný missed out on first place by a tiny bit, then he was overtaken by Finn Carcass. But then came 1992, when he finally achieved gold in Barcelona. To make matters worse, he also managed to break an Olympic record here.
That’s what a Briton tried to steal from him at the Sydney Olympics Backley, however, Železný immediately overthrew him and again took the gold with a record. At the end of 2000, he was also the first ever Czech to be voted the best athlete in the world.
Although he battled back pain for most of his active career, his polished technique did not give his opponents a chance. Thus, Železný stayed at the very top for twenty years. He said goodbye to his career with a bronze medal from the European Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2006. He was 40 years old then.
Currently together with the world champion Vítězslav Veselý dedicated to training young javelin hopefuls. Among the sporting hopes, however, another hope appeared for Železný. Little girl Andrea Drápalová she completely charmed him, and not just with the way she throws the spear. After all, in 2019 she already threw a bouquet at the Nymburk stadium, where the lovebirds said their “yes”.
A wife almost thirty years younger
Drápalová is 27 years younger than her husband. However, when you see these two standing next to each other, you wouldn’t even guess that they are almost thirty years apart. Železný has become younger next to his younger partner, and it seems that the young woman also gives him a lot of inner energy.
Although the former spearhead is otherwise quite protective of his privacy, there were more than 100 wedding guests at this festive event. And even journalists did not miss this joyful moment. It was also remarkable that the tough band A coat in front of Pepa Vojtek, who does not play at weddings, made an exception for the newlyweds. That made the whole thing even more special.
It was already the second wedding and the third serious relationship for the world record holder. With the first wife Marta they divorced in 2007, they have two children together – a son Jana and daughter Catherine. After the divorce, Železný already held his then lover in his arms Barbara Excellent, with whom they raised a two-month-old baby. During the duration of their relationship, which, however, did not end happily, they had time to produce one more child. However, Železný allegedly completely gave up and was unable to continue the relationship.
Has he finally found the right one?
The lovers lived in a joint household at the time, and Železný wanted to unpack Výborná with the children. “I have a given date by which we have to leave with the children. The house is Honzy, he has his own intentions with it, but I don’t want to discuss that. It’s a very sensitive topic,” she stated then for expres.cz.
Communication and relationships at freezing point, that’s how the situation in which Výborná found herself could be described. “We don’t have a lot of resources. He does offer us something, but it is not so much that we can buy something corresponding. We will definitely have to do worse with the children,” an expartner told the mentioned website of Železné.
Currently, however, the former athlete is just overflowing with happiness with a new and young woman, so all he has to do is wish that she is finally the right one and their love really lasts forever.
