LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant to Lead USA Men’s Basketball Team at Paris 2024 Olympics

LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant will lead the almighty United States men’s basketball team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

As reported by the ESPN network and The Athletic portal this Monday, eleven of the twelve players who will be part of the Stars and Stripes team for this Olympic event have already been confirmed.

Thus, in addition to LeBron (Los Angeles Lakers), Curry (Golden State Warriors) and Durant (Phoenix Suns), Anthony Davis (Lakers), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Devin Booker (Suns), and Anthony Edwards will also be in the French capital (Minnesota Timberwolves), Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), Jrue Holiday (Celtics), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat) and Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers).

In this way, the impressive team coached by Steve Kerr (who is the technical director of the Warriors) still has a free spot to fill to complete the twelve positions on the team. The American team will try to change its face after failing in the 2023 World Cup, where it finished in fourth place.

According to The Athletic, Kawhi Leonard (Los Angeles Clippers) is the main candidate for that twelfth spot. In any case, they also analyze Paul George (Clippers), Paolo Banchero (Orlando Magic), Mikal Bridges (Brooklyn Nets) and Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks)

Durant is, along with Carmelo Anthony, the only player to have won three Olympic gold medals. On the other hand, Curry has never competed in the Games: it would be his first participation. For his part, LeBron took the bronze in 2004, won the gold in 2008 and 2012 and did not attend the 2016 and 2020 events.

Since the ‘Dream Team’ of 1992, the United States has won first place in almost every Olympic Games, including 2008 with the ‘Redeem Team’. The only exception was Athens 2004, when the Argentine National Team, the historic and unforgettable Golden Generation, won.
