Laprade Sports Complex Hosts Olympic and Paralympic Activities for Students

Friday April 5, the Laprade sports complex was the scene of numerous sporting activities to introduce students to Olympic and Paralympic disciplines.

Last Friday, 339 students from seven Catholic schools met at the Laprade sports complex, invited by the École La Source de Saint-Germain-Laprade and Saint-Régis Saint-Michel du Puy-en-Velay.

On the lawns and sports fields, schoolchildren from Solignac-sur-Loire, Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille, Saint-Julien-Chapteuil, Saint-Front and Lantriac joined those from Saint-Germain-Laprade and Le Puy- en-Velay.

François Falgon, head and territorial referent of the departmental Olympic and sports committee, led the 20 workshops including shooting, wheelchair tennis, sitting volleyball, boccia (bowls), judo, football, racing, golf, etc.

For Aurélie Alcaraz, director of the La Source – Saint-Régis Saint-Michel ensemble who was in the organization with the teaching teams, “the initiation program also aims to raise awareness among young people about disability and inclusion. , with the support of the departmental Olympic committee and the logistical help of numerous clubs and associations.”

For the young people in the CM (middle course) classes of the Source schools and the class representatives of Saint-Régis Saint-Michel, the adventure will continue at the heart of the next Paralympic Games, on September 5 in Paris, since they are invited to the wheelchair tennis events at the Roland-Garros stadium.

This afternoon ended with a presentation of medals to all the participants and a large comforting snack in the presence of Didier Ferry, director of diocesan education, Gilles Delabre, departmental councilor and numerous elected officials from the communes of the Agglomeration of Puy-en-Velay.
