Patriots: Kyle Dugger extends for $58 million

No flashy recruitments for the Patriots this offseason, but we’re keeping things safe. ESPN announces that New England has signed Kyle Dugger (S) to a 4-year contract extension.

Amount of the operation: 58 million dollars, including 32 million guaranteed. That’s an average of $14.5 million per season. With all the bonuses, the total could go up to $66 million.

Dugger had received a transition tag before free agency. Ultimately, it will be a long-term contract.

Kyler Dugger had 109 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 2 interceptions in 17 games last season. The 28-year-old was selected in the second round of the Draft by the Patriots in 2020.

Rashee Rice’s case gets worse

Involved in a car accident last week, Rashee Rice (WR, Chiefs) is not yet out of the woods. According to WFAA, Dallas police found 10.8 grams of marijuana in the Lamborghini driven by Rice.

Possession of this amount is a misdemeanor in Texas, with a potential jail sentence of 180 days. One more thorn in the side of the player already in the crosshairs of the authorities for an urban race as well as a hit-and-run.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the player’s lawyer expects the receiver to be indicted soon. Between urban racing, hit-and-run and possession of marijuana, the authorities will have a choice.

Rumors

– The Dolphins have an eye on Odell Beckham (WR). According to ESPN, Miami have made at least one offer, maybe two, to try to attract the veteran. There would be interest from both sides, but the player would take his time to ensure he found the right situation.

Calais Campbell (DE) is 37 years old but he has not yet announced his retirement. So Raheem Morris hopes to keep him in Atlanta. The coach told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he plans to take the time to talk to the pass rusher in the coming weeks.

Transactions

– The Chiefs tribe keeps Mike Danna (DE). The defender signed a new 3-year, $24 million contract to stay in Kansas City. Last season, the 26-year-old had 50 tackles and 6.5 sacks in 16 games. (NFL Media)

– The contract signed by Carson Wentz (QB) with the Chiefs would be one year for $3.32 million. (NFL Media)

The main signatures of the day: Teair Tart (DT, Dolphins), Dante Miller (RB, Giants), MyCole Pruitt (TE, Steelers)

The main re-signings of the day: Derrick Brown (DT, Panthers), Isaiah Simmons (LB, Giants),

The main cuts of the day: D.J. Fluker (G, Raiders),

And bref

Stefon Diggs (WR, Texans) really wanted number 1 with the Texans. According to ESPN, the receiver gave Jimmie Ward (S) $100,000 to get the number back! The safety will move to the 20. If the figure seems enormous to ordinary mortals, note that 100,000 dollars compared to Diggs’ salary of 22.5 million dollars next season, it is the equivalent of 71 euros for a minimum wage employee.

– Two big weeks before the Draft, T’Vondre Sweat (DL, Texas) didn’t help himself. The 2023 Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year was arrested for drunk driving. He was released from prison after posting bail. He faces a $2,000 fine and 180 days in prison. (KXAN-TV)
