“Ventspils” suffered a loss in the first game of the semi-finals of the “Pafbet” Latvian-Estonian Basketball League (LIBL) in Tallinn on Tuesday. Ventspilnieki lost to the winner of the main tournament “Kalev” Tallinn with the result 65:91 (21:30, 22:19, 7:17, 15:25).
Among the visitors, Ronalds Zaķis and Linards Jaunzems stood out with 15 points, who also won 12 rebounds and collected five assists, while Artūrs Ausējs and Ishmaels El-Amin added nine points each.
Ben Shungu and Manny Suarez contributed to the victory of the Tallinn team with 20 points, who also had ten steals.
The second match of the series will take place in Ventspils on April 12, but if necessary, the third match is scheduled for April 16 in Tallinn.
Ventspilnieki defeated “University of Tartu” & Moorits with 103:69 in the quarter finals, lost 69:82 away from home and won the decisive match at home with 103:83, being superior in the series by 2-1.
Tallinners beat “Parna Sadam” in the quarter-finals with 83:77 and 77:63.
In the main tournament, “Ventspils” finished fourth with a 20-10 record, while the Tallinn team was first with one loss in 30 matches.
In both games of this season’s main tournament, Tallinners had won, winning 110:88 away, and 81:60 at home.
