There have already been many trainer dismissals in our Jupiler Pro League this season, and there is currently another trainer who is in the danger zone.
Namely Ivan Leko. The current coach of Standard Liège has not yet been convincing and has also received a lot of criticism, especially when he brought in a youth product from Standard and did not react very kindly.
With these actions he does not exactly make himself popular with both Standard supporters and the club’s board. There was already speculation here and there about an early departure for the Croat. But he doesn’t want to know about that for the time being.
“Things can change quickly, but I will always be clear about that,” Leko told SudPresse about Deila’s questionable speech upon his departure. “At the moment I am happy here and I see myself staying. With a better staff, better selection, better management, … everything that can improve must improve. I will commit more than 100% so that we can make Standard a can deliver a better future. I also have confidence in that.”
It is therefore clear that Leko himself is not currently thinking about an early exit. Although he will have to be careful about this, as he has not immediately been successful since his appointment. He did manage to secure preservation, but that’s where it ends.
