Joshua Kimmich heads FC Bayern into luck in the premier class against Arsenal. But his statements after the end of the game give a deep insight.

Munich – The word “of all people” has a special meaning in football. One would almost say that it is on the index.

But on this Wednesday evening you have to use it. Joshua Kimmich heads (!) FC Bayern against Arsenal FC into the semi-finals of the Champions League. This very Kimmich, who is probably completing his toughest season in the Munich jersey, now scores the decisive goal.

The 29-year-old wanted satisfaction after his strong performance (tz-Note 1) but then you don’t know anything after the game is over. “Of course the goal is very, very good,” said Kimmich in the mixed zone of the Allianz Arena, before getting some frustration off his chest: “I had to listen to a lot last year I received very, very little support. In the end, this proves once again that hard work is always worth it. So I’m very, very proud that the evening went like that and I’m really happy about the goal and getting into the semi-finals.”

At DAZN Expert Sami Khedira had already broken Kimmich’s lance after the game. Most recently, BVB advisor Matthias Sammer spoke to the Bayern star and appealed not to repeatedly judge Kimmich too harshly.

Kimmich was asked late on Wednesday evening in the belly of the arena whether the lack of support was from the club: “Yes, in general. Hinz and Kunz commented on me personally. There were only a few people there who were pro-Kimmich,” said the national player: “So it’s really nice if I can ensure that the votes change again.”

This goal now ensures that Bayern’s dream of winning the trophy lives on – despite the disappointing season so far. This was certainly not an easy season for Kimmich either. He was apparently left unscathed by six-man discussions and unfortunate dismissals.

“Of course, when we don’t have success as a team, it’s always very difficult,” reveals Kimmich: “Especially this season, when we haven’t really found our top performance, then it’s a difficult phase for each of us. because that’s what drives us to win games and be successful. That’s another reason why we’re extremely pleased that we’ve made progress.”

Kimmich as the face of the Bayern crisis? “How did you feel?”

Striking: Even Christian Dreesen did not object on Wednesday evening when Kimmich was said to have had the most difficult year of his Bayern career. The CEO only saw Kimmich, who “just seemed very happy in the dressing room.”

Thomas Tuchel also didn’t have any effusive words for Kimmich, instead praising Konrad Laimer or Noussair Mazraoui after the end of the game on DAZN. “It’s good that Josh has the courage to go through,” said the Bayern coach about the goal, whose header was “not typical” for the current right-back, but he added a wink to this sentence.

When Kimmich was then asked whether he had seen himself as the interim face of the crisis at FC Bayern, he only asked rhetorically: “What was your feeling?” (smk)
