Jorge Vilda resigns from his position as a member of the RFEF Assembly

Jorge Vildaformer national women’s coach and current head of the Moroccan women’s team, has presented her resignation as a member of the General Assembly of the Federation Española de Fútbol (RFEF) elected in 2020, in which he was also appointed to be part of the Delegate Commission.

Vilda was one of the 39 members of the current Assembly who, according to Miguel Ángel Galán, president of Cenafe, had lost their status as assembly members, which is why, as he denounced, before proceeding to call elections for the presidency of RFEF by part of the Management Commission, partial elections were to be held to replace those assembly members who have lost such status. An argument that led to a challenge to the electoral process opened by the RFEF this week.

“The Vilda’s resignation supports my challenge to the elections, so the electoral process has to be suspended until partial elections are held to cover the loss of Jorge Vilda due to the ranks of non-professional coaches,” says Miguel Ángel Galán.

In the letter sent to the RFEF, Jorge Vildawho requests that his resignation be accepted and asks the Federation to launch the election of a replacement as quickly as possible, recalls that he currently resides regularly in Morocco and only makes sporadic trips to Spain, while showing the impossibility of being able to fulfill their positions with the dedication they would like.

As reported by ABC, Galán has challenged the call for elections for the presidency to the Real spanish soccer federation, convened for next May 6, based on two legal issues: the first is the expiration of the mandate of 39 members of those who make up the Assembly, and the second is the failure to comply with the female quota required by the ministerial order. The plaintiff considers that the RFEF should call the first elections to update the Assembly, since he states that 39 of its members have lost the condition to be able to participate in it and must be replaced.
