Jordan Montgomery Fires Agent Scott Boras, Signs with Wasserman’s Joel Wolfe and Nick Chanock

The left-handed pitcher of the Arizona D-Backs, Jordan Montgomeryfired his agent Scott Boras and has replaced him with Wasserman’s Joel Wolfe and Nick Chanock, according to reports Thursday, April 11.

Jordan Montgomery agreed to a one-year, $25 million contract in late March despite many expecting him to land a lucrative long-term contract after helping the Texas Rangers win the 2023 World Series. Matt Chapman, Blake Snell and Cody Bellinger, three of Boras’ other notable clients, also signed for less than many anticipated this offseason.

The launcher is likely Jordan Montgomery look to test free agency again next offseason if he performs well for the Arizona D-Backs.

The 31-year-old was targeting April 19 to debut for Arizona. He made his first Triple-A start on Sunday, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out three in four innings.

Montgomery is expected to be one of the main starters in the rotation made up of Mitch Kelly, Eduardo Rodríguez and Zac Gallen. And if that were not enough, said agreement does not have a no-trade clause, so this could be a trade option at the trade deadline, depending on the position the D-Backs are in by then.
