Victim of a violent fall during the 4th stage of the Tour of the Basque Country, Jonas Vingegaard was released from the Araba University Hospital in Vitoria this Tuesday noon after obtaining the approval of Spanish doctors. On board a medical plane, the rider from the Visma-Lease a Bike training was able to reach Switzerland where he has a residence.
Also suffering after this fall from a pulmonary contusion, a pneumothorax and several broken ribs, the double winner of the Tour de France had notably undergone successful surgery on his left collarbone last week.
While the Tour de France (June 29-July 21) begins in just over seventy days, the duration of his absence remains unknown for the time being.
