Joel Schwärzler Falls Short in First Challenger Level Match in Sarasota

Joel Schwärzler still has to wait for his first success at Challenger level.

At the clay court tournament in Sarasota, the ÖTV hope lost in the first round against Tristan Boyer 2:6, 6:4, 5:7.

In the first set it was a clear affair for the American, who took serve from Schwärzler twice. The Austrian then managed a break for the first time, which was enough to equalize the set.

It’s going into the decisive third set, where things are tight. Boyer is able to serve out the match in the ninth game, but Schwärzler counters with the re-break.

When the score is 5:5, he leaves two break chances. In the end, the American takes the service away from him, which means defeat for Schwärzler.
