Jannik Sinner’s Journey: From Skiing to Tennis Star

During his press conference after his quiet victory against Jan‐Lennard Struff in the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Monte‐Carlo, Jannik Sinner was questioned by a colleague on the idea that to build a career well it was perhaps necessary to draw inspiration from the great champions of your discipline.

Surprised by this question, the Italian played the sincerity card.

“I’ll be honest, at first I only skied, so I wasn’t interested in tennis. I looked a little but nothing more. Afterwards when I decided to become a tennis player I became more interested in it. The first match I saw, I remember it well, was Andreas Seppi at the Ortisei Challenger. Now I know the life of most of the top players like Roger (Federer), Novak (Djokovic), Rafa (Nadal), Andy (Murray), what they did or didn’t do, but that’s it. Afterwards it’s true that today I miss certain players like Tsonga, and of course Roger. »
