Kenneth Perez is surprised by the return of Alex Kroes to Ajax. It was announced on Monday that Kroes will start working as titular technical director at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, after he was suspended as general manager.
“I find it striking that you apparently want to join Ajax so badly, while the people you are now going to work with again – the supervisory board – want to get rid of you so badly and want to send you out,” Perez said on Sunday evening at This was it Weekend. “To come back… I think it’s crazy of him. I really thought he had character.”

Michael van Praag, with whom Kroes was on a collision course, is still on the supervisory board. “You will be working with people who almost proudly stood in front of the camera to say that he had to be kicked out because of criminal behavior. These are the people you are now accountable to. I think it’s special,” concludes Perez.
Van Praag said upon Kroes’ return that Ajax was ‘not deaf’ to the sounds from the area. So supporters called for its return. “It goes without saying that conditions were agreed upon that made this change possible. The club must move on and we believe that it is good for Ajax that we have ultimately arrived at this solution together. Alex will play an important role in the football technical part of the organization and will mainly focus on the purchasing and sales policy,” says Van Praag.
