Italian Archer Federico Musolesi Shines in Antalya with Gold and Silver Medals

ANTALYA (Türkiye)

A gold and a silver: this is the exceptional result of Federico Musolesi (double member of Castenaso Archery and Aeronautica Militare) engaged with the Italian national team in Antalya, Turkey, for the Spring Arrows Tournament.

It was an excellent test in view of the qualification tests for the Paris 2024 Games.

Italy finishes in second place in the medal table, with two gold medals, one silver and one bronze (like Germany) behind the hosts Turkey. And there is the signature of the young and emerging Musolesi (in the photo) in all this. Federico is part of the men’s team – with Matteo Borsani and Mauro Nespoli – which wins the team event by beating Great Britain 6-2.

In the individual, Musolesi, 25 years old, shows he has nerves of steel. The semi-final with the Uzbek Sadikov is resolved only in the shoot-off: Federico wins 6-5.

In the final, however, for the Italian from Castenaso, who grew up in Carla Di Pasquale’s club, there is the home idol. The Turkish Mete Gazoz, in addition to enjoying the favor of the public, is the reigning Olympic and world champion.

The Turk doesn’t miss an arrow, for him only ’10’, with just one flaw, a matter of millimetres, in an almost perfect match. Federico has to resign himself to second place, but his credibility, at an international level, continues to grow and even his opponents know that, to win, they have to deal with him. A silver medal and a second place are worth a lot. Also from an Olympic perspective, because Federico would really like to go to the Games.
