Intergenerational Exchanges Flourish at Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture (MJC) Senior Club

Since 2021, members of the Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture (MJC) have visited those of the seniors club. The opportunity for great intergenerational exchanges.

During the first two years, the elders took pleasure in seeing the children of the judo section evolve, under the “orders” of their educator Marcel Boonaert. And in 2023, it was Mylène Fernandez Rouan who got the members of the club moving. Zumba and wild rhythms have invaded the senior area.

This season, the music was again there. The choreographic workshop, with its teacher Anaïs Marin, and its faithful “assistant”, Nelly Guinot, led the dance. Nine children from the modern jazz class invited the elders to participate in musical games (musical chairs, dancing mirror, etc.). They then presented a choreography worked on during workshops organized at the MJC, as well as a session on a second creation in progress. The members of the club, chaired by Eliette Sutra, were numerous.

Alongside their president, her MJC counterpart, Claude Roques Gonzalez, was delighted with the success of this new meeting. Under the eyes of Marie José Delcroix, deputy mayor of Tarascon-sur-Ariège, they reaffirmed their intention to continue these meetings in the years to come, “which are part of the MJC’s associative project”.

The afternoon ended with a good snack, promoting the continuity of exchanges between the generations present.
