Insults to the referee in the first category, the coach sacked – Football

Coach sacked not for the results or for how he puts the team on the field, but because he behaved badly with the referee. It is the reason for the interruption of the relationship with immediate effect explained through social media by the Settimo San Pietro 1967 club. Last year Mario Sanna, first team coach and head of the youth sector, had dragged the team with the Sampdoria shirt to promotion from second category to the first. However, President Giuseppe Corona did not like what happened on Sunday 7 April in the match against Frassinetti.

It all started – reports the newspaper L’Unione Sarda – from a goal validated by the Cagliari team and contested by the players and coach. Sanna was first warned and then sent off. But the club didn’t like at all how the coach addressed the referee.

“After the expulsion – says Corona – he remained on the sidelines watching, then he started with the insults.

Unrepeatable: I’m ashamed. I entered the referee’s room and apologized as a family man and president, dissociating myself from what was said. You explained to me that you took this into account when you decided to referee, but for me nothing can justify certain things. Everyone loses their temper during the game, but not like this. The insults continued even while the referee was leaving.”

The statement speaks of “serious behavior”. With the club “profoundly apologizing to the referee Eleonora Tola and to the public present who witnessed what happened”. To make matters worse: “What happened – explains the club’s management – is the furthest thing from the values that we teach our kids every day”.
