Indonesia Targets to Steal Points Against Qatar

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Manager of the Indonesian U23 National Team, Sumardji, said that Garuda Muda is targeting points against Qatar in the 2024 U23 Asian Cup.

As is known, the match against hosts Qatar is the opening match for the U23 National Team which will be held on Monday (15/4/2024).

Qatar is one of Indonesia’s strongest opponents in this event. Moreover, Qatar’s senior team also won the U23 Asian Cup.

Even so, Sumardji said, the Indonesian U23 National Team had prepared the team well.

He revealed that the analyst team together with coach Shin Tae-yong had prepared scenarios and tactics to face Qatar.

“We see that what we are facing is Qatar. We know that its football development is quite extraordinary and Qatar is the host for this event,” said Sumardji in the Kompas Evening program, Sunday (14/4/2024).

“What is certain is, if we analyze how Qatar plays, of course the analysis team has prepared it well, we have studied several things which are the strategy and way of playing for the opposing team,” he said.

Regarding the points target when facing Qatar, Sumardji said that the Indonesian U23 National Team wanted to achieve points so that they could have the opportunity to qualify for the knockout phase.

“We have agreed, for this event, we want to be able to qualify for the next phase so that with strong intention, enthusiasm and goals, of course the target is to get points,” he said.
