The city of Riobamba experienced a true celebration of inclusion ahead of the Manta 2024 National Games
The Riobamba Olympic Stadium hosted one of the largest inclusive sports festivals of the year, when they received about 620 athletes from different parts of the country. Chimborazo during the Provincial Selective Games of Special Olympics.
Specialized and ordinary education institutions, both in rural and urban areas, participated in sports disciplines such as athletics, ball throwing, relay, soccer, cycling, swimming, taekwondo and judo, with the aim of choosing among their representatives the best for the Special Olympics National Games that this year will be held between the May 31 to June 4, in Manta, province of Manabí.

The inauguration at the Riobamba Olympic Stadium had among the protagonists Danny Macas, champion with outstanding participation in the World Games Berlin 2023, who was in charge of carrying the torch that lit the cauldron of the Selective Games.
Institutions such as the Carlos Garbay Educational Unit, Chimborazo Special Olympics, Education District 06D01 Chambo Riobamba and the Chimborazo Sports Federation, They were responsible for the organization of this inclusive provincial sports festival, which was a success and in which all the athletes who participated shone.
Héctor Cueva, president of Special Olympics Ecuador, was present and received recognition from the organizing committee, who highlighted giving “the place they deserve” to athletes with different abilities.
It is worth mentioning that the Special Olympics National Games are scheduled to bring together between May 31 and June 4, more than 700 athletes from 21 provinces of Ecuador.
