Possible sensational news on the future of Inter’s ownership. Corriere della Sera has revealed the concrete interest of a Saudi family, who is negotiating directly with Steven Zhang to take over the Nerazzurri club.

It would not be the now infamous Pif fund, owner of Newcastle, but a member of the Saudi royal family.

“The potential buyer of Inter would fall within the circle of the royal family of Riyadh and, as proof of his interest in Italian football, he would have in the past also attempted an approach with Juventus, rejected by the Agnelli-Elkann family. It would therefore not be the 900 billion Pif fund which, after taking control of Newcastle, seems oriented towards building a constellation of smaller satellite clubs around the English team. But of a member of the ruling Al-Saud dynasty which has its pivot in the crown prince Mohammed bin Salman”, underlines the Corriere della Sera.

The margins for closing the deal are narrow: it will take time to verify the financial credentials and the genuineness of the intentions of the Saudi suitor who should at least come close to the 1.2 billion valuation imagined by Zhang for Inter. But time is precisely what the Chinese family currently lacks: in just 37 days the club’s controlling holding company will have to repay the 250 million loan (plus 70 million in interest) granted in 2021 by Oaktree.
